The Role
The Private Enterprise Manager plays a critical leadership role within our public practice firm. This position is responsible for managing assurance, compilation, and advisory engagements for privately held businesses, including entrepreneurial, family-owned, and mid-market clients. The Manager provides technical expertise, delivers client-focused solutions, and develops team members, while maintaining the firm’s high standards of quality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple private enterprise engagements (review, compilation, advisory, and corporate tax compliance).
- Act as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Provide timely, value-added advice on accounting, tax, and business matters affecting private enterprises.
- Identify opportunities for cross-service referrals and growth within client portfolios.
- Review financial statements, tax filings, and working papers for accuracy and compliance with ASPE, PSAS, IFRS and firm standards.
- Research complex accounting and tax issues and provide practical solutions to clients.
- Ensure engagement files are completed in accordance with firm methodologies and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor junior and senior staff on engagements.
- Provide constructive feedback and contribute to performance evaluations.
- Support a culture of learning and professional development within the practice.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposals, networking, and client presentations.
- Contribute to internal initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and client service delivery.
- Collaborate with partners on strategic priorities for the Private Enterprise group.
Qualifications
- CPA designation (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4–5 years of experience in public practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, PSAS, IFRS, corporate taxation, and assurance standards.
- Direct experience with Caseware Cloud
- Ability to sign-off on Compilations
- Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience supervising and developing staff.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a client-first approach and strong business acumen.
The successful candidate will be required to work out of our Calgary or Edmonton offices.
