THE ROLE
The Director, Information Technology is responsible for leading the Firm’s technology strategy, infrastructure, systems, and IT operations to support secure, efficient, and scalable business processes.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the business goals of the Firm, including assessing current IT infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement, and planning for future technology needs.
- Provide strategic technology leadership to the Firm, ensuring IT initiatives support operational efficiency, scalability, and long-term business priorities.
Operations
- Oversee the maintenance, configuration, and optimization of the Firm’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and hardware, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
- Support Karbon to streamline workflow management, improve visibility into client work, and support consistent processes across the Firm.
- Champion AI-driven Operational efficiencies. Spearhead the evaluation, deployment, and integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions across workflows, identifying opportunities to automate manual processes, enhance productivity, and scale data-driven decision making.
Cybersecurity and Data Management
- Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive client data and support compliance with relevant regulations such as PIPEDA, including regular security audits, encryption protocols, and staff education.
- Develop and enforce data management policies to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of the Firm’s data assets, including regular backups and disaster recovery plans.
Vendor and Resource Management
- Develop IT budgets and allocate resources effectively to support the Firm’s technology needs while ensuring cost-effectiveness and prioritizing projects based on business needs and available resources.
- Oversee relationships with external IT vendors, including software providers, hardware suppliers, and service contractors, while managing contracts, service levels, and vendor performance.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and mentor IT team members, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years of progressive technical experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership or management role.
- Experience with Karbon or other practice management software including implementation, workflows, and system optimization.
- Proven experience identifying, implementing, and scaling AI tools and automation pipelines (such as generative AI applications, intelligent document processing, or custom RAG architecture) to drive measurable operational efficiencies and modernize business workflows.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, and change-management skills.
- Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, ITIL, PMP, or Microsoft/cloud certifications, are considered an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of network operations, cloud environments (Azure), and system design.
- Strong familiarity with security protocols, data protection standards (GDPR, HIPAA), and risk mitigation frameworks.
- The ability to translate complex, technical data into easily understood business terms for stakeholder alignment.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams smoothly through software migrations or digital transformations.
